About Edna

Edna King-Newell is a speech and language therapist who has practiced in the NHS, independent autism schools, privately and in the community.

She has worked with children and adults with Autism, Learning Disabilities and a wide range of other communication disorders. Edna is also a BACP registered counsellor with a Masters degree in Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse.

Edna has worked as a speech and language therapist for 20 years and has knowledge and experience in carrying out assessments and interventions. She is also experienced in the use of low and high tech AAC, including the use of an iPad with Clicker Communicate, Proloquo and Pictello.

Edna is an experienced counsellor who works in a person-centred way, with patience and empathy. She has worked with people dealing with trauma, anxiety and depression. She works in a professional, non-judgmental way in order to assist clients to engage effectively throughout the assessment and intervention process and is able to analyse assessment findings and write detailed reports alongside communicating with a range of professionals and caregivers, as and when appropriate.
